Once you have installed Freestyle Translation Manager, goto the Joomla backend, under 'Components' -> 'Freestyle Translation Manager'.
Once here you will be presented with a screen with a list of your installed languages.
If the language you would like to translate a component to is not listed here, then please install the relevant language package for your version of Joomla and return to this page.
The language files for a component are split into 2 sections, the Administrator side, and the Site site. These are for the Joomla backend and your public site respectivly.
Choose the side you wish to translate and the language that you would like to translate into, and press the 'View Files' button at the top of the page.
You are presented with a list of all the language files that you have available on your site, and the status of the translation into the currently selected language. You can use the search box to filter this list and find the language file for the component that you wish to translate. Once you have located the file, click it to edit the translation of the file.
The top section of this page contains the details of the translation, such as author and license information. The rest of the page is the translated strings for the component. The left hand side is the original english version of the text, and you can change the right hand side, entering the translated text.
The color of the translated text box denotes the status of the string, and if it has been changed or not.
At any point you can save your progress by using the Apply button. Once you are satisfied with your translation and wish to test the results, Save the transation.
Your file will need to be published before it starts to be used on your site. You can do this by clicking the state icon in the files list against your translation. The icon for published is a green tick.
You can translate the languages for any component of your website, including Component, Plugins, Modules and any other parts that provide language files.
At the moment, you cannot currently export your translation for individual components at the moment, but only the entire translation. This feature will be coming soon.
If you return to the language selected screen, you can choose a language, and click the 'Package' button to create a zip file of your translation for installing on any other Joomla site.
